When the Romans wished to carry out a census in the Land of Israel (the Romans had a modern and orderly rule), the inhabitants of the country were asked to come to their respective places in order to be registered, and Mary and Joseph made their way to their original home in Judah, in Bethlehem, and after the census and the birth, the family returned to Galilee.
Activities
The beginning of Jesus' activity is described in the New Testament, in Nazareth, his city ("No one is a prophet in his own land"). His preaching was oral, his deeds were written about and told in the following generations.
We will speak of references to Jesus by historians Josephus Flavius, Pliny and Tacitus.
In the Jewish Talmud there are almost no references to Jesus, yet we will talk about references / hints (?), prefiguration in Isaiah 53, Jeremiah 31, Psalms 1, the Book of Jonah. We will discuss as well Gadi Yona's interesting research book "The Messianic Code".
In Nazereth we will visit the Church of the Annunciation, the Synagogue Church, the Church of St. Joseph, we will visit Kana, Mount Tabor, the Sea of Galilee at Domus Galilei, the Mount of Beatitudes and ancient Capernaum and Kursi. On another day, we will trace the footsteps of Jesus from the room of the Last Supper to the house of the High Priest Caiaphas and Gethsemane, and from there we will go up to Via Dolorosa. Another possibility is visiting the tomb garden.
How does Judaism accept Christianity? What are the clues in Jewish prayers? And what are the stories in the Talmud about Yehoshua ben Perahia, the discussion in the Talmud in Bava Metzia about "The Oven of Akhnai" and more. We will talk about the connection between Judaism and Christianity, we will talk about anti-Semitism, and about the attitude towards Jesus in Islam.
The tour includes a hike of about 5 kilometers
