My dear friends, I will say this from the start. Jerusalem is something that is different from everything we know in the world. You can love it, you cannot hate it. You certainly cannot ignore it. There is no such experience in the world. Everything is dizzying, spectacular, humiliating, uplifting. In one word, the city is awe-inspiring. All our senses come into play here. Sight and hearing, smell, touch. And taste. A Bible in your hand is a must.
I will repeat the cliche, there are many beautiful cities in the world. There are none like Jerusalem.
Activities
Where shall we begin? I usually start from two observation points of the city, one far away and one closer, to put everything into proportion. Therefore, I have prepared a tour of 3 days, structured and modular, in which we will enter slowly, passing through the ages and years, to this day. Most of what we see is tangible, some things will need imagination. At the beginning of the tour we will ride, later on we will walk, walk a lot, there are a lot of stairs, we will take it leisurely with appropriate breaks. The tour includes local food. I will guide the entire tour, the explanations are on an academic / research level, in some places we will use the aid of local exhibits and presentations.
My plan is for three consecutive days of touring, preferably more, but that is enough to begin to understand Jerusalem.
During the tour we will talk about the kings, the conquerors, the prophets, the priests of Jerusalem, divisions in Jerusalem, the great builders, the water systems, Jerusalem today, Israeli politics.
A tour of Jerusalem is heavy and tiring, because of the abundance of sights and information. Three such days in a row are beyond human endurance, so I will offer one free day in Tel Aviv, "The White City", including the beach, or on our beach called Palmahim, where you can relax a bit.
Psalms, Chapter 125 : Jerusalem has mountains around it, and the Lord is around His people from now and to eternity. Psalms, Chapter 137: If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget [its skill]. May my tongue cling to my palate, if I do not remember you, if I do not bring up Jerusalem at the beginning of my joy.
Isaiah – Chapter 40: "Console, console My people," says your God. Speak to the heart of Jerusalem and call to her, for she has become full [from] her host, for her iniquity has been appeased, for she has taken from the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.
Zechariah - Chapter 8: So said the Lord of Hosts: Old men and women shall yet sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each man with his staff in his hand because of old age. And the streets of the city shall be filled, with boys and girls playing in its streets
